Enugu State University Collaborates with Enugu State Government to Address Medical Personnel Shortage

In a bid to address the critical shortage of medical personnel across health facilities in Nigeria, the Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, has taken proactive measures. During a recent event at ESUT, Prof. Okolie expressed concern over the shortage of healthcare professionals in the country.
In response to this pressing issue, ESUT has initiated collaborative efforts with the Enugu State Government to increase the admission quota for the Nursing Sciences Department within the university. This move aims to bolster the nursing profession and ensure an adequate supply of skilled healthcare workers in the region.

Additionally, Prof. Okolie highlighted the need for prudent financial management in universities, urging fellow vice chancellors to utilize funds effectively for the development of their respective institutions. The accreditation teams from the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC) and Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) commended ESUT's commitment to maintaining academic standards.
