ESUT Vice Chancellor's Commitment to Return the University to Global Recognition

Prof. Okolie, who assumed office on April 12, 2023, expressed his commitment to transforming ESUT into a competitive, innovative, and globally recognized institution.

Prof. Okolie, who assumed office on April 12, 2023, expressed his commitment to transforming ESUT into a competitive, innovative, and globally recognized institution.
The Vice Chancellor made these remarks during a press briefing about the activities planned for the 18th convocation of the university, scheduled for Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25. Prof. Okolie outlined the steps being taken to rebrand ESUT, emphasizing the pursuit of excellence and the reinforcement of academic cultures known to top universities. These steps include rewarding excellence, strengthening the capacity of quality assurance and servicom units, closely monitoring and enhancing discipline, and digitizing student records to expedite transcript processing while eliminating corrupt practices associated with the process.

In his brief tenure, the management has replaced seats at the Julius Onah auditorium, reviewed ESUT's laws to align with global standards, strategized to complete all abandoned TETFUND projects, and initiated the migration from issuing statements of results to certificates. Furthermore, ESUT has embarked on an agricultural investment initiative, planting two thousand palm seedlings as raw materials for large-scale palm oil production. The university has also developed a vitamin A-enriched cassava species and is engaged in piggery, snail farming, poultry farming, and other projects to boost internal revenue and enhance food security in Enugu State.

The 18th Convocation will feature a total of 29,240 graduates who completed their studies at ESUT between 2016 and 2021. Prof. Okolie assured that he is working to ensure the convocation ceremony takes place annually, and certificates are issued promptly upon graduation, thus putting an end to the practice of issuing statements of results. His dedication to enhancing the university's academic and operational standards is poised to elevate ESUT to a prominent position among global institutions.
