Ex-Student of Kogi State Polytechnic Honored with NYSC Presidential Award
An ex-student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Onivehu Musa Habeeb, has been honored with a Presidential NYSC Award. Habeeb, who graduated with National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from the institution, demonstrated exceptional service and community-driven projects during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.
Habeeb's notable projects include the "Operation Light Up Your Environment" initiative, which facilitated the installation of solar streetlights in Yelwa community, and a sanitation exercise at the GSM Village, directly addressing environmental and public health concerns. These impactful projects earned him national recognition and the prestigious President's NYSC Honours Award.
Habeeb dedicated the award to Kogi State Polytechnic, recognizing the institution's role in shaping his character and nurturing his academic excellence. He expressed gratitude to the Department of Accountancy and the Dean of the School of Management Studies, Dr. (Mrs.) Ruth Haruna, for their guidance and support during his academic journey.
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, commended Habeeb for distinguishing himself as a proud ambassador of the institution. He noted that the award was a clear manifestation of Habeeb's hard work, resilience, and dedication, which were worthy of emulation. The Rector pledged to recommend Habeeb for recognition by the Kogi State Government and encouraged other alumni to shun parochial sentiments and strive for nation-building.
