Faculty of Engineering Pays Courtesy Visit to UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Seeks Support
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, received a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering in his office on Monday, December 8, 2025, for a courtesy call aimed at soliciting support and discussing faculty needs.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Prof. Ugochukwu Okonkwo, Dean of the Faculty, commended the Vice-Chancellor’s recent initiatives and outlined several challenges, including inadequate staffing and limited classrooms and office spaces. The Dean emphasized the Faculty’s commitment to aligning with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision and contributing to the University’s growth.
In response, Prof. Anyaehie noted the significant achievements within the Faculty and questioned why the University has not yet risen above its current ranking. He urged lecturers to patent their innovations and encouraged the Faculty to focus on internal capacity-building. To alleviate workload pressures, he promised the deployment of four additional academic staff members. Regarding unpaid staff, he reassured the delegation that efforts are ongoing to ensure full payment.

The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged the Faculty to develop online certification programmes and offered support for student admissions into new academic programmes. On the matter of consultancy, Prof. Anyaehie indicated the University’s readiness to establish a consultancy service registered as a limited liability company.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, he promised to complete the abandoned Faculty of Engineering building promptly. He directed the Heads of Department for Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying to coordinate with the Director of Physical Planning to recommence construction work.

Aginam, Engr. Prof. Isizoh Anthony, Prof. F.O. Enemuoh, Prof. Stone Odera, Prof. Scholastica Nnebe, and other Heads of Departments.
The visit underscored the Faculty’s commitment to collaboration, innovation, and strategic growth, with the Vice-Chancellor pledging robust support to address both human and infrastructural challenges.
