Fed Poly Bonny Holds SIWES Defense for Business and Management Students
A SIWES defense is a presentation and discussion of experiences and challenges gained during the period of Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme before a panel of examiners, typically at the end of a period usually three (3) months. It is an opportunity to showcase the in-depth understanding of the knowledge gained, answer questions, and defend the validity of the work done.
On Saturday February 21st, 2026, the Department of Business Studies and Management Technology of the Polytechnic organized a SIWES defense for her ND II students.
To evaluate the student's knowledge and experiences of their SIWES, their ability to explain it, and their understanding of the reasons for SIWES.
The students typically presented their SIWES experiences through a presentation, using projectors and oral means.
Engr Olalekan Ogunwole (the SIWES Director) Dr Kalu Livinus Achi (Former Director SIWES) Dr Carr Ezekiel Hart the HOD (Petroleum Marketing and Engineering Technology) and Onu Smart were all on hand to guide the students accordingly.
The panel of examiners, which included faculty members and external experts, asked questions about the SIWES, its methodology, what is expected and the importance.
The SIWES defense is a test of the authenticity and originality of the work done.
Effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to answer challenging questions were critical areas examined for the successful SIWES defense.
