Federal Government College (FGC), Idoani, Ondo State Alumni Association Vows to Give Back

The Alumni Association of the Federal Government College (FGC), Idoani, Ondo State, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to contributing to the growth and development of its alma mater through shared values and collective responsibility.

During the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the association held in Abuja, Mr. Temitope Akinlonu, the President of the association, emphasized the pledge to make meaningful contributions to their former school.

Under the theme, "Beyond Borders, Embracing Diversity and Inclusion," Akinlonu articulated the association's commitment to ensuring that the opportunities and experiences they cherished during their time at FGC Idoani were passed down to future generations.

Akinlonu underscored the enduring connection that binds alumni to their alma mater, asserting that it extends well beyond their student years. This connection, he noted, has not only molded them into the individuals they are today but also equipped them to confront future challenges.

Furthermore, Akinlonu highlighted that this bond has played a pivotal role in fostering lasting friendships and leaving indelible memories among the alumni.

The commitment to unity and giving back to their alma mater is demonstrated through various community actions. Akinlonu noted that alumni, both as individuals and groups, have returned to the school with the purpose of identifying pressing needs and offering support.

Mr. Adeuga Adeniyi, the Public Relations Officer of the association, emphasized that while the alumni recognize the school's responsibility and receive financial support from various sources, including alumni contributions, they are ready to step in when urgent issues arise.

For instance, the alumni have undertaken initiatives to improve the school premises, including installing streetlights, providing a solar-powered borehole and generator, and performing essential maintenance tasks such as tiling, roofing, and painting.

In addition to these actions, the alumni have established scholarships, generously supported by individuals, to reward and nurture the brightest students, ensuring their continued academic excellence.

The Alumni General Meeting also featured a series of sporting competitions dubbed "ALUMNILYMPICS 2023," and it witnessed a remarkable turnout of alumni, including older sets from the 1980s, who graced the event with their presence.
