Federal Ministry of Labour Audits Newgate College of Health Technology to Verify Statutory Workplace Standards

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has conducted a Re-Routine Labour Inspection visit to Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna as part of efforts aimed at ensuring compliance with labour laws, workplace regulations and staff welfare standards in institutions across the country.

The inspection team, led by Mr. Ogbonnaya Justice, carried out a comprehensive assessment of the College’s labour practices, focusing on key areas including conditions of service, payroll and overtime records, staff appointment documentation, social security compliance, workplace safety policies, pension compliance, staff welfare and implementation of workplace regulations.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Ogbonnaya Justice described the Proprietor and Pro-Chancellor of Newgate University Minna, Hassan Nuhu (Mayanan Minna), as a friend, stakeholder and critical partner of the Ministry, noting his commitment to institutional growth and staff welfare.

He explained that the inspection exercise was in line with the provisions of the Labour Act and was designed to promote compliance with acceptable labour standards and best workplace practices.

The team also reviewed the College’s policies on accident prevention, welfare facilities, trade union activities and other statutory labour requirements.

Responding on behalf of the institution, the Provost, Mrs Queendaline Opara Iwuala, appreciated the Ministry for the visit and reiterated the commitment of the Proprietor and Management to staff welfare, professionalism and strict adherence to standard labour laws and practices.

She emphasized that the College remains committed to providing a conducive working environment that supports productivity, accountability and excellence in health education and training.

The inspection visit further reflects the institution’s dedication to maintaining high standards in administration, employee welfare and regulatory compliance.
