Federal Polytechnic Ayede has received commendation from its Governing Council, led by Chairman Hon. Yakubu Dati (FNIPR), during a recent visit to the institution.
The council praised the transformative impact of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFund) and acknowledged the innovative strides recorded under the leadership of Rector Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE).

Hon. Dati highlighted the significance of the NELFund initiative, noting its role in enabling numerous indigenous students to pursue higher education without overwhelming financial constraints. “The success stories of NELFund beneficiaries are a testament to the program’s effectiveness,” he said, while extending appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating the scheme and stressing its positive effect on the community.
During the visit, the Governing Council inspected an innovative 3D printing machine developed by Engr. Oluwafemi Tijani, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Project Fabrication Grant. The project, supported by the Rector, showcased the creative potential thriving within the polytechnic. “It’s inspiring to see leadership that looks beyond traditional boundaries to secure funding and realize innovative projects,” Hon. Dati remarked.

Rector Abdul-Hameed expressed gratitude for the support from the Federal Government through TETFund, which, he noted, has been central to the institution’s growth. He stressed the importance of effective project packaging to ensure innovation is both recognized and appreciated. “We continue to strive for excellence and improvement,” the Rector stated, while thanking the Hon. Minister for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, alongside TETFund leadership, particularly the Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono and the Chairman, Aminu Bello Masari.
Representing the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Nwokorie Chinyere commended the achievements of the polytechnic, noting: “Among its peers established at the same time, this institution stands out due to the dedication of the Rector and the management team.” She praised their commitment to positioning the school as a benchmark for polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Council member Alhaji Modu Goba Mintar added that the students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede “are among the brightest in both polytechnics and universities,” affirming the impressive academic standards of the institution.
Community representative Prof. Jide Ajao applauded the leadership team for their notable accomplishments and pledged his readiness to address any challenges necessary to further enhance development.
Engr. Oluwafemi Tijani, the lecturer and inventor of the 3D printing machine, emphasized the academic and commercial potential of additive manufacturing. He explained that the machine could aid rapid prototyping and research commercialization. “Many of our projects on campus are not well packaged, which presents a problem,” he noted, calling for systematic approaches to align research outputs with international standards and market value.

The visit reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting leadership that empowers students and strengthens the community. Federal Polytechnic Ayede continues to position itself as a symbol of opportunity and excellence within Nigeria’s educational sector.
