Federal Polytechnic Bali is set to benefit from a significant renewable energy upgrade as work is scheduled to begin on a 1.5MW solar power project, designed to serve both the institution and the surrounding community.

The contractors, M2 International Limited, visited the campus on Friday for the official handover of the project site, marking the transition from planning to execution.
The initiative is part of the National Public Sector Solarisation Initiative (NPPSSI) — a Federal Government programme executed by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under the Federal Ministry of Power. The programme is targeted at strengthening power supply in key public institutions through clean, reliable, and sustainable energy infrastructure

.
Beyond boosting energy reliability, the project aligns directly with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan and the broader Renewable Hope Infrastructure Agenda, both aimed at accelerating the nation’s shift away from fossil fuels.
During the site handover, the Rector, Dr. Mohammed Usman, received the project team in the presence of management officials. Following a brief briefing session, the Director of Physical Planning, Engr. Umar Yakubu Abba, formally handed over the designated site to the contractors.
The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Tukur Lamido, the Project Desk Officer, Engr. Malanta Abdulhamid, and other key officials, signaling full institutional support as the project moves into its implementation phase.

The 1.5MW solar installation is expected to enhance power stability on campus, improve academic and administrative productivity, and extend clean energy benefits to nearby communities.
