Federal Polytechnic Oko Hosts 2nd International Multidisciplinary Conference
The Federal Polytechnic Oko recently hosted its 2nd International Multidisciplinary Conference, themed "Technological Innovations, Imperatives for Driving Investment and Sustainable Development."
The conference brought together experts, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss the role of technological innovations in driving investment and sustainable development.
The Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, emphasized the importance of innovation and adaptation to emerging global realities for national survival and progress. She highlighted the role of polytechnics in promoting technological innovations, stating that they are engines of applied knowledge where theories become practice and skills are sharpened.
Dr. Awuzie challenged lecturers to be more professional and produce graduates who can apply their knowledge to real-world problems. She encouraged students to engage their minds and hands, become creative, and spend more time in laboratories, workshops, and project rooms.
The conference featured a keynote speech by Dr. Cosmas Maduka, who emphasized the need to practicalize knowledge to make it relevant to human existence. He highlighted the importance of innovation in guaranteeing success.
The lead paper presenter, Engr. Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Onyenanu, charged the government to create an enabling environment that can encourage and sustain technological development. He decried the current unfriendly and harsh environment in the nation and called for a change.
The conference concluded with award presentations to the Rector, paper presenters, and others. The event provided a platform for brainstorming on ways to guarantee a more robust engagement of technological innovation in tackling economic challenges.
