In a significant move to enhance administrative efficiency and operational mobility, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has officially presented a brand-new vehicle to the institution’s Skill Development Centre.
The vehicle, procured through the 2025 TETFund Special Intervention Fund, was handed over to the Director of the Centre, Engr. Ogonna Nwokoye, during a brief ceremony on the campus.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Awuzie emphasized that the provision of the vehicle is aimed at ensuring the seamless operation of the centre for the benefit of staff, students, and trainees. She underscored the importance of the centre in the institution’s broader mission and urged the management of the unit to prioritize the responsible maintenance of the asset.
“This gesture is to ensure that the centre functions smoothly to actualize its founding objectives,” Dr. Awuzie stated. “Careful handling and maintenance are essential to prolonging the lifespan of this vehicle.”

The Director of TETFund at the Polytechnic, Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi, commended the Rector’s leadership and expressed gratitude to the Senator Barnabas Gemade-led 12th Governing Council for their continued support. She also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda, noting that such interventions are vital for driving infrastructure and structural development within the nation’s educational sector.
In his response, the Director of the Skill Development Centre, Engr. Ogonna Nwokoye, praised the Rector’s visionary leadership. He revealed ambitious plans to transform the centre into a self-sustaining commercial hub.
"We are tracking your vision and working hard to ensure it is fully actualized," Engr. Nwokoye said. "Our target is to transition the skills we offer into a commercial enterprise. We have the facilities and the expertise to make this centre a regional hub for innovation and commerce."
The addition of this vehicle is expected to provide the necessary logistics support as the centre expands its training programmes and transitions toward its new commercial objectives.
