Federal University Gashua Introduces New Examination Rules and Penalties
Federal University Gashua (FUGA) has announced the introduction of new Examination Regularities and Irregularities Committee (ERIC) Laws, aimed at ensuring strict compliance with examination regulations and maintaining academic integrity.
The new ERIC laws, approved by the Senate at its 53rd Regular Meeting held on December 19, 2024, outline penalties for various forms of examination malpractice. The penalties range from carryover of courses to expulsion, depending on the severity of the offense.
Key Highlights of the New ERIC Laws:
- Refusal to Stop Writing or Handover Script After Time: Carryover of the course
- Possession of Unauthorized Materials or Devices in the Exam Hall: Suspension for two consecutive semesters
- Impersonation, Including Alteration of an ID Number: Expulsion
- Physical or Verbal Intimidation or Assault of University Staff: Expulsion
The university management has urged all students, especially newly admitted and returning students, to familiarize themselves with the new ERIC laws and adhere strictly to them to avoid jeopardizing their academic future.
