Federal University Kashere Students Oppose Proposed Fee Increase

The Presidents Forum of Federal University Kashere, under the leadership of Comr. Abdulrauf Auwal, engaged in discussions with the Dean of Student Affairs regarding a proposed school fee increment.

The forum expressed its concerns, highlighting potential financial difficulties for students and their families in the face of economic realities.

In response, the University management explained the reasons behind the proposed increment, emphasizing the challenges they were facing. Despite these discussions, the forum was unable to prevent the increment from being considered.

However, the forum acknowledged the leadership qualities of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umaru A. Pate Kaigama of Adamawa, especially in areas such as academic and physical development, ICT, staff and student welfare, and resource mobilization.

As a result of these discussions, the Presidents Forum and the University management reached agreements on various key issues, including:

Introduction of installment payment for registration fees.

Closure of the registration portal 30 days before exams.

Allowance for spillover students to pay registration fees based on the courses they are taking.

An increase in power supply to hostels and lecture halls from one to three hours.

Improvement in sanitary conditions in hostels and clinics.

Enhancement of library services.

Maintenance of the regular late registration fee.

Construction of additional hostels on the campus.

Improvement in security measures, including ID card-based entry and exit.
