The Federal University Lokoja, located in Kogi State, is set to graduate 2,511 students during its 6th and 7th combined convocation ceremony. Among the graduates, 61 have achieved first-class honors.Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, disclosed this during a press conference marking the commencement of activities for the upcoming combined convocation event.

In the 7th set, 33 students have attained first-class honors, 386 have achieved second-class upper, 668 have secured second-class lower division, 250 have obtained third-class honors, and 1 graduate has a pass degree.Prof. Olayemi emphasized that the Federal University Lokoja has made significant progress in higher education rankings, standing within the 51st-60th bracket out of 120 universities in Sub Saharan Africa. Furthermore, it ranks 17th among Nigerian universities and 9th among federal universities.

The Vice Chancellor also noted that all university programs have been relocated to the Felele Campus. Additionally, the university has initiated programs in Medicine, Nursing, and Engineering, with Agriculture, Law, Pharmacy, Psychology, and Medical Laboratory Sciences in the pipeline.Furthermore, the College of Health Sciences has commenced, with pioneer students now in their second year. The admission process for the Engineering and Nursing programs is set to take place in the 2023/2024 academic session.

In terms of community service, the university has established both primary and international secondary schools, aiming to provide quality education.Under Prof. Olayemi's leadership, the university has achieved significant infrastructure development, including the construction of road networks, an entrepreneurship center, and 12 blocks of lecture halls. The university also constructed a health center, solar-powered street lighting, 40 blocks of shops, and the renovation of several key facilities such as the faculty of science complex, the university library, and the ICT center.Furthermore, the university connected to the national grid, procured a fire-fighting service truck, and undertook the renovation of male and female hostels for MB;BS students.

This combined convocation is not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a testament to the growth and development of the Federal University Lokoja under Prof. Olayemi's leadership.
