Federal University Lokoja launches distance and e-Learning to promote flexible learning
The Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has unveiled the University's Centre for Distance and e-Learning (DeL) to promote flexible learning through the use of ICT monitored by myschoolnews.
The Centre was unveiled today by Professor Som Naidu, Principal Associates, Technology, Education & Design Associates, Melbourne, Australia, during his maiden visit to FUL and presentation of a lecture tagged "Re-engineering Education Futures at the Confluence of Technology, Education, and Design."
Professor Naidu, a former Pro-Vice Chancellor, Flexible Learning at the University of the South Pacific, was accompanied by one of Nigeria's finest academic who is the current Chancellor, Littoral University, Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin and former SSG to Kogi State Government, Emeritus Professor Olugbemiro Jegede.
The Vice-Chancellor, last year, appointed Professor Ibrahim Adeku Musa as the Director of Distance and e-Learning to drive the process and ensure that FUL evolves as one of the leading Universities that offers distance and e-learning programmes in Nigeria.
Along with his team, the Director worked round the clock to ensure that the complete e-learning software packages were developed and deployed within fews months in office, while efforts are on top gear to secure the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the commencement of the programmes.
During the unveiling, the Vice-Chancellor noted that more facilities were still needed, especially in the areas of furnishing and equipping the center, and therefore sought the support and assistance of the guest lecturer and the former SSG.
