FG Calls Emergency Meeting with Labour Leaders to Avert Nationwide Strike Crisis

In an urgent bid to halt the ongoing nationwide strike, the Federal Government has invited the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to an emergency meeting on Tuesday. This initiative, spearheaded by the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission, aims to resolve the standoff that has led to significant disruptions across various sectors.

The NLC and TUC began an indefinite strike on Sunday, June 2, 2024, following the Federal Government's refusal to increase the minimum wage from N60,000. The strike has seen numerous unions shutting down workplaces in compliance with the directive from the labour unions.
