The West Africa Container Terminal (WACT), located at the Onne Port in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has recently awarded scholarships totaling over N60 million to more than 100 undergraduate students from the Onne and Ogu communities.

During the scholarship award and presentation ceremony held at the Onne Port, Rivers State, the Managing Director of WACT, Jeethu Jose, emphasized that the Annual Scholarship Scheme aims to identify, nurture, and attract talents from the host communities.

Mr. Jose announced the re-awarding of scholarships to a new batch of 50 beneficiaries under the Annual Scholarship Scheme, commending the recipients for their academic excellence and dedication.

The Chairman of Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Adokiye Ochemiebia Chuku, expressed gratitude to WACT for positively impacting the lives of community members, noting that such initiatives contribute to reducing youth restiveness in the area.

Representing the paramount ruler of Onne, King Sunday Njijor Jiala, Sunday Dudu, Chairman of Ogu Community Development Committee, praised WACT for its contributions to capacity development and physical infrastructure in the community, assuring the company of continued cooperation and support.
