In addition to infrastructure support, TETFund has sponsored 126 lecturers for Ph.D., 26 lecturers for Masters Degrees, and 10 lecturers for Bench Work. A lecturer was sponsored for Postdoc, while 416 staff have been sponsored for conferences locally and abroad.

FG inaugurates ₦2.8bn TETFund projects in Nnamdi Azikiwe university

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, inaugurated several new projects at a Nigerian university, aimed at enhancing teaching, learning, and academic standards. The projects, which include lecture halls, faculty buildings, departmental offices, and laboratories, were reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The projects were funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), which has been instrumental in the development of public tertiary education in Nigeria. The six projects were valued at ₦2,775,227,111.78.

Mr. Kalu assured that the National Assembly would continue to work with the Executive to make educational institutions globally competitive for the economic and technological development of the country.

Mr. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, stated that the Fund’s interventions to the university started in 2009, with a total of ₦10,567,075,176.00 allocated for infrastructure-related interventions so far. He assured that the Fund would continue to support the university’s drive for creativity through meaningful research endeavours and provision of necessary infrastructure.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Charles Esimone, said the inauguration of the projects was part of activities marking the 17th Convocation and Graduation ceremony of the institution. He expressed his appreciation to TETFund and the contractors of the project for their efforts in ensuring the completion of the facilities.
