FG Reassures Stakeholders of Education Sector Turnaround

The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu has reassured stakeholders of education sector of unwavering commitment to education sector turnaround.

This was announced on the official X handle of the Federal Ministry of Education on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

The statement was made as the minister addressed the National Stakeholders' Dialogue and High-Level Policy Comittee Meeting on reviewing basic education curriculum framework and structure in Abuja.

As reported by This Day, the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, was represened by Dr Tanko Sununu, Mamman stated that the basic education curriculum was reviewed 12 years ago and no much effort has been made to address the current an future prospect of Nigeria.

According to him, “The curriculum was last reviewed 12 years ago and it is an understatement to say that we have now addressed the need of the last five years not to think of addressing the current need and the future prospect of Nigeria.

The minister also explained that reviewing the curriculum will go a long way to address the challenges of poor learning outcomes and depreciating value system, which will expose learners at the basic education level to various skill development and opportunities including job creating skills.
