The Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. James Ayatse, lauded the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to fostering enduring legacies in Nigeria, particularly in the education sector. Speaking at the institution's 48th Convocation and 53rd Founders' Day ceremonies in Benin, Prof. Ayatse acknowledged the administration's dedication to overcoming challenges and providing quality education.

Addressing the graduates, Prof. Ayatse congratulated them on their success in the final exams and urged them to take pride in UNIBEN's commitment to excellence, aligning with global best practices. Prof. Salami, in her welcome address, advised the graduates to be good ambassadors of the institution, emphasizing the value UNIBEN places on excellence.

Providing a breakdown of the graduating class, Prof. Salami announced that 178 students earned First Degrees, with a total of 14,254 students graduating across various categories. The classes of degrees awarded included First Class (178), Second Class Upper (4,353), Second Class Lower (8,607), Third Class (400), Pass (14), Diploma (5), Unclassified (576), Distinction (1), Credit (81), and Pass (39).

Highlighting the achievements of her administration, Prof. Salami outlined efforts to pursue academic excellence and growth. The University has undergone significant upgrades in information and communications technology (ICT) facilities, the library, and the health center, ensuring standard healthcare for staff and students. These projects were executed with support from the federal government, Tetfund, and philanthropic individuals and organizations.

The Chancellor and Vice Chancellor's remarks underscored the federal government's commitment to education and the university's dedication to providing a conducive environment for learning and academic excellence.
