Partnering with Access Bank and the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, the initiative included distributing 4,500 sandals made from recycled tyres and 1,090 school bags.

FREEE Recycle Limited, an integrated recycling and manufacturing company, has made a significant contribution to educational development in Oyo State. The firm has provided over 5,700 students with new footwear and school bags, aiming to boost their academic performance and well-being.

This initiative, part of FREEE Recycle’s 2024 Limited Partnership Series, reflects the company’s commitment to creating sustainable social impact through innovation and collaboration. The project was executed in partnership with Access Bank and the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.

The collaboration with Access Bank focused on tackling the shortage of footwear among public primary and secondary school students in Ibadan. Over 4,500 sandals, made from recycled tyres, were distributed to schools such as Saviour Apostolic School and Salvation Army Primary School. This effort not only provided essential footwear but also aimed to enhance school attendance, academic performance, and overall health outcomes for the children.

In addition, FREEE Recycle partnered with the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion to distribute 1,090 school bags to public schools in Ibadan. This partnership also included training for local women, equipping them with entrepreneurial skills to improve their economic situation and support their families.

Ifedolapo Runsewe, Managing Director at FREEE Recycle Limited, emphasized the firm’s dual focus on sustainability and social impact. “Our goal at FREEE Recycle is to create a future where sustainability and social impact go hand in hand. Through these partnerships, we’re not only turning waste into resources but also addressing critical needs in education and economic empowerment,” Runsewe said.
