Prof. Adikwu, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, has refuted claims of receiving six months' salary after his tenure, stating that every amount received was approved by the Governing Council.

Speaking to the media over the phone from Katsina, Prof. Adikwu denied allegations of taking substantial bonuses and allowances upon retiring. He emphasized that the council only approved for him what had been customary for past vice chancellors.

"Why is mine different? All principal officers of universities go on sabbatical leave after their tenures. Why is mine different as a former vice chancellor?" Prof. Adikwu questioned.

He further explained that during his tenure, the university did not provide fuel for his vehicle as approved by the council. Additionally, although the council approved funds for his research during his sabbatical, he claimed to have received nothing.

Commending President Bola Tinubu for his achievements in the education sector, Prof. Adikwu suggested the formation of a think tank by the President for the sector to generate ideas and solutions.
