The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Professor Francis Aba Uba, has called on staff to demonstrate renewed dedication to duty following the resolution of long-standing salary and welfare challenges.

Addressing staff at an interactive meeting held on 26th January 2026 at the Otada Campus, Prof. Uba emphasized punctuality, discipline, and security consciousness as the university seeks to strengthen its national standing.
He issued a stern warning against truancy and absenteeism, noting that such offenses attract serious consequences under the institution's conditions of service.
"Please be at your duty post. When you can't be around, take permission," he urged.
Prof. Uba also announced the introduction of SERVICOM, the federal government’s service delivery initiative, which will conduct unannounced checks on staff attendance. Additionally, he mandated the compulsory wearing of identity cards during office hours to reinforce security protocols.
To boost morale and productivity, management unveiled plans for annual awards, including:
Best Worker
Most Well-Behaved Staff Member
Best-Dressed Employee
Neatest Department

Prof. Uba described the awards as “mouthwatering” incentives aimed at fostering excellence across the university.
Regarding the university’s flagship Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) programme, Prof. Uba announced that students currently at home would be recalled on 9th February 2026. He expressed confidence in the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) conducting an accreditation visit in the first quarter of the year. Acknowledging financial pressures on parents, he assured that installment payment options would be available for school fees.
The Vice-Chancellor further noted that the screening exercise conducted in late 2025 is under review, with results to be published soon. He reaffirmed that the process would be honest and transparent, in line with the Governing Council’s directives to fully implement recommendations.
Closing his address, Prof. Uba encouraged staff to invest in land, highlighting the role of universities in driving development within host communities.
Other management members, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Friday Godwin Okibe, Registrar, Mr. Michael Ogiji, and Bursar, Chief Dr. Paul Akpa, reiterated the Vice-Chancellor’s directives and called for collective commitment to FUHSO’s transformation agenda.

Several staff members expressed appreciation for the clearance of outstanding allowances and pledged to reciprocate management’s goodwill with dedicated service and enhanced productivity.
