Delivering the 18th professorial inaugural lecture of the institution, titled "Communication Strategies, Inclusive Practices and Education of Children with Hearing Impairment," Ozegya emphasized the need for adequate funding and resources to support inclusive education in Nigeria.
He highlighted the challenges faced by children with special needs, including inadequate infrastructure, insufficient specialist teachers, and lack of political will to implement inclusive education policies.
Ozegya recommended that all stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and government officials, work together to provide opportunities for educating children with disabilities. He also suggested expanding the FULafia Academy to accommodate learners with disabilities and establishing an institute for training in-service teachers.
