FULafia V-C commends ICT, AKKLAIM for effective project delivery

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has commended the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Unit of the University,  AKKLAIM Contractors and Orange Wave Network Services for successfully completion of the fibre-optic cables internet platform in the University. 

He said that the completion of the project signalled the beginning of improved internet connectivity and effective teaching and learning in the University. 

Abdul Rahman called on the contractors to continue to work closely with the ICT Directorate for the success of the project in the University.

While calling on the ICT Directorate and the contractors to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of the project, the vice-chancellor appealed to the University community to take ownership of the project and ensure the safety of the facility.

He assured staff and students that the project, now limited to some areas, would be expanded to cover more the entirety of the two campuses of the University.

In her welcome address, the Head of ICT Unit,  Saratu Haruna, informed the vice-chancellor that the first phase of the fibre-optic installation commenced on the August 1, in 2023, and it was designed to cover the 

Administrative Building, ICT Building, Management Information System (MIS) Building, Mallam Adamu Adamu Complex, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Library, some hostels and the E-learning centre. 

Also speaking, the representative of the Akklaim Contractors, Engr. Ugochukwu Nwokedi called on the University Management to put in place adequate measures to protect the internet facilities.
