The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has visited the House of Representatives Member for Akwanga/Wamba/Nassarawa Eggon Federal Constituency, Honourable Jeremiah Umaru, with a call for collaboration between the University and its major stakeholders to be strengthened, myschoolnews Report.

The visit took place at the office of Umaru, at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly (NASS) Complex in Abuja.  

Accompanied on his visit by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Ali Shugaba, Registrar, Nuradeen Abdu, Bursar, Daniel Wilson, Head of Department of Business Administration, Dr Jibrin Agabi, and his Personal Secretary, Bashir Ozomata, the vice-chancellor said that an institution such as the University he heads needs the support of critical stakeholders to overcome its challenges.

Abdul Rahman described Umaru and his colleagues at the NASS as huge assets which needed to be utilised for the benefit of the University and state. 

He said that in as much as the University works hard to live up to the expectations of the state and its people, the need to involve others cannot be overemphasised.

He said that since his assumption of office, he has deployed many means to attract and use resources in the interest of the University, saying that the University was founded on the values of excellence, integrity and innovation.

He, therefore, called for closer relationship with the National Assembly members from the state, appealing to them to graciously play their roles in the process of developing the University.

He said that his watch, the University was able to manage resources judiciously, adding that his efforts were focused on leaving the institution better than he met it.

He said that the University was ahead of its counterparts in the area of e-learning, adding that the development has enabled the University to make its admission status up to date.

He called on the NASS members to assist the University bolster its e-learning programme to cover all areas and boost network connectivity in the University.

He said that e-learning has also enabled the University to engage notable experts away from the University to deliver lectures for benefit of the students through the Google Classroom. 

“The University needs your intervention and whatever you do today is for our children and, maybe, some time somebody from your family can become the vice-chancellor of our University,” Abdul Rahman said.

Speaking, the House of Representatives member, Umaru, stated his happiness to receive the vice-chancellor, saying that the University, under Abdul Rahman’s leadership, has achieved huge successes. 

He praised Abdul Rahman for especially his respect for excellence and due process in the process of administration, saying that “there’s no doubt that your University is doing very well in virtually all aspects.”

He promised that he and his colleagues would do all within their power to ensure that issues raised by the vice-chancellor get the desired attention.

“I have plans, personally, for the University and I’ll execute them,” he said.
