FULafia VC Abdul Rahman seeks support of security agencies, stakeholders to combat insecurity in FULafia

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called on the security agencies and other stakeholders to join hands with his administration in the fight against insecurity in the University and its environs.

Professor Abdul Rahman made the call during a security meeting which centered on securing matters with law enforcement agencies, stakeholders and community leaders.

The meeting took place at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Office and Lecture Complex, Permanent Site Campus of FULafia.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Professor Aleruchi Chuku, urged the stakeholders to work towards enhancing peace and security by designing a broad based security action plan for the University and its neighbouring communities.

While emphasising the importance of security collaboration among stakeholders, the vice-chancellor urged residents to be vigilant and contribute to the University's efforts to provide conducive and crime-free environment for effective teaching and learning.

In his welcome remarks, the chairman of the meeting and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships of FULafia, Professor Samaila Usman Dakyes, called for a collaborative drive to tackle insecurity within and around the University’s environment, stressing the need for vigilance and security consciousness among inhabitants of the communities.

Professor Dakyes said the security meeting was necessary to hold to ensure the safety and security of lives and property of students and residents of the communities.

In their separate speeches, the stakeholders noted that the task of securing the lives and property of students and people living within the University community must be a collective responsibility, calling on the community leaders to be vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information that would address security threats in their domains.

The meeting had in attendance security agencies, house owners and community leaders around the two campuses of FULafia.
