The Centre for Leadership Studies at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) hosted a symposium on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in honor of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman. Scholars, staff, and guests gathered to reflect on his leadership style and lasting legacies as his five-year tenure approaches its end in February 2026.
The symposium, which aimed to inspire effective leadership across sectors, featured a keynote presentation by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor-Designate (Administration), Professor Aleruchi Chuku.
In her presentation, titled “Leadership and Legacies: Dissecting the Transformational Leadership Style of Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman,” Prof. Chuku lauded the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure as a model of "transformational leadership," characterized by high growth, productivity, and the ability to inspire the university community.
Dr. Attah Michael Abashi, the Director of the Centre for Leadership Studies, expressed delight at the turnout and described the event as a timely reflection on the achievements since Prof. Rahman assumed office in February 2021.
A panel discussion featuring eminent scholars further examined the extent to which Prof. Rahman’s model aligns with established principles of transformational leadership.
