In a statement released by the Assistant Director of the Media Directorate of Public Relations at FUNAAB, Olasunkanmi Olajide, it was clarified that the cakes in question contained a high level of alcohol, leading to unintentional intoxication.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has officially absolved Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student, of allegations involving the poisoning of his girlfriend and another female acquaintance. The Ogun State Police had previously arrested Ayomide on charges of administering a toxic substance, believed to be a mix of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unidentified harmful substance.

In a statement released by the Assistant Director of the Media Directorate of Public Relations at FUNAAB, Olasunkanmi Olajide, it was clarified that the cakes in question contained a high level of alcohol, leading to unintentional intoxication. Medical examinations conducted at the institution's health center confirmed Ayomide's lack of malicious intent. The affected individuals were discharged from the hospital the following day and even participated in their examinations on November 10, 2023.

The school emphasized that all charges against Ayomide, brought forth by the parents and the school of the affected ladies, have been dropped due to the absence of malicious intent. The Ogun State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed Ayomide's release on bail following a settlement by the parents of the students. Odutola added that the affected girl had recovered and been discharged from the hospital, with the parents having reached an agreement.

The incident, which initially led to legal actions, has now been resolved, with the university declaring Ayomide free of any wrongdoing.
