FUNAAB Clears Student Accused of Poisoning Girlfriend: Unintentional Intoxication due to High Alcohol Content in Cakes

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has clarified the situation surrounding the final year student, Oladokun Ayomide, who was accused of poisoning his girlfriend and another lady. The university management stated that Ayomide had no malicious intent and that the cakes he purchased for the two ladies contained a high level of alcohol, resulting in unintentional intoxication.
In response to the initial report of Ayomide's arrest by the Ogun State Police Command over the poisoning accusation, FUNAAB has indicated that all charges against him have been dropped due to the lack of malicious intent. The Assistant Director, Media Directorate of Public Relations at FUNAAB, Olasunkanmi Olajide, conveyed this clarification in a statement made available to the public.

Following a settlement by the parents of the two students involved, Ayomide has been released on bail, as confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola. She mentioned that Ayomide is entitled to bail, and both the affected girl has recovered and been discharged from the hospital. The parents have reportedly settled the matter amicably.
