The seminar, held on April 22, 2026, at the college seminar room, was themed “The Complete Postgraduate Blueprint: Research, Writing and Presentation.”
Speaking during the event, the Dean of the college, Bolarinwa Senjobi, said postgraduate education now requires scholars to demonstrate intellectual depth, methodological discipline, ethical standards, and global competitiveness.
He described research as the foundation of academic excellence, stressing that problem-solving and impactful studies remain essential to societal growth and development.
According to him, effective academic writing and presentation skills are equally critical, particularly for seminars, conferences, thesis defences, and scholarly communication.
Bolarinwa Senjobi further reaffirmed the college’s commitment to promoting innovation and research-driven solutions capable of addressing challenges such as food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development.
He encouraged postgraduate students to actively participate in academic seminars and scholarly engagements to improve their research capacity and professional development.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Olufemi Pitan provided participants with an extensive overview of key academic and research concepts required for successful postgraduate studies.
He guided students through practical approaches to identifying research problems, structuring academic work, and developing strong research proposals.

The former Head of the Department of Crop Protection also discussed thesis organisation, literature review methods, referencing styles, and the importance of originality, clarity, coherence, and compliance with academic standards in scholarly writing.
In his concluding remarks, Olufemi Pitan urged students to apply the knowledge gained from the seminar, stressing that postgraduate success depends heavily on diligence, critical thinking, discipline, and effective communication skills.
