The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji land, has reiterated that the University remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure with no record of abandoned or substandard projects.

The Pro-Chancellor stated this on October 9, 2025, during an inspection tour of completed and ongoing projects across the campus. The visit, conducted with members of the Governing Council, underscored the University’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and timely project execution.
The tour began with the inspection of the newly completed Principal Officers’ Quarters, built to accommodate the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi; the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga; and the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi. Oba Olabomi commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and the Management Team for their dedication to maintaining high construction standards and ensuring project completion within stipulated timelines. It will be recalled that the Council had earlier visited the site in June 2025 and urged contractors to deliver as scheduled.

The team also visited the College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS) Building Phase II, which began in July 2024 and has reached 99% completion. Impressed with the progress, the Pro-Chancellor officially handed over the keys to the Dean, Prof. Victor Makinde, and encouraged proper maintenance of the facility.
At the 120-capacity Undergraduate Student Hostel, a TETFund Merged Annual Intervention Project for 2023/2024, Oba Olabomi expressed satisfaction with the standard of work and presented the keys to the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun. The delegation further inspected the newly constructed 100-capacity Anatomy Laboratory at the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET), where the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that furniture and laboratory equipment would soon be installed before handing over the keys to the Dean, Prof. Olusola Ajayi.
Other facilities visited included the newly developed Greenhouse — a dual-purpose facility combining a research laboratory class and a climate-controlled greenhouse — and the Animal Demonstration Laboratory, also known as the Abattoir.
During the tour, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kehinde, appreciated the Pro-Chancellor and the Governing Council for their continued support and supervision. He announced that the furnishing of the Principal Officers’ Quarters would be completed before the end of the month, adding that Phase II of the Veterinary Anatomy Laboratory project would begin next year. He further revealed that the Greenhouse project was 99% complete and equipped with automation and climate control systems, while the Animal Demonstration Laboratory — a fully automated facility with a cold room and a 100KVA generator — was already 90% complete.

The inspection exercise reaffirmed FUNAAB’s position as a model of accountability and project continuity in the Nigerian university system.
