The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has officially unveiled the programme of activities for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has officially unveiled the programme of activities for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.

The week-long celebration is scheduled to hold from Friday, January 23 to Saturday, January 31, 2026, according to a statement issued by the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff, and students, has invited stakeholders, alumni, parents, guardians, and friends of the university to participate in the convocation activities.

The programme will commence on Friday, January 23, 2026, with a Jumat Service at the University Mosque by 1:00 p.m. Activities will continue on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with an Interdenominational Service at the Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB, by 10:00 a.m.

A Press Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Red Chamber, beginning at 10:00 a.m. On Friday, January 30, 2026, the university will commission various projects across designated project sites at 10:00 a.m., while the Convocation Lecture will take place later the same day at the Red Chamber by 3:00 p.m.

The ceremonies will culminate on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with the main Convocation Ceremony featuring the award of First and Higher Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and the presentation of prizes. The event is scheduled to hold at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building by 10:00 a.m.

A major highlight of the convocation is the lecture titled “Integrating Agriculture and Youth Development: A New Paradigm for the Nigerian Education System.” The lecture will be delivered by Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, and a renowned investor, banker, and philanthropist.

Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede, who served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc from 2002 to 2013, is widely credited with transforming the institution into one of Nigeria’s leading financial services groups. He is also recognised for his contributions to corporate governance, economic reform, and philanthropy.

The university expects the lecture to spark meaningful discourse on agriculture-led education and youth empowerment as critical drivers of sustainable national development, in line with FUNAAB’s mandate of producing globally competitive graduates equipped for socio-economic transformation.
