The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been honoured with selection as one of the 50 African universities chosen for the prestigious China-Africa Hundred Universities Cooperation Plan. This initiative pairs 50 top universities from Africa with 50 leading institutions from China to foster academic collaboration and mutual growth.

FUNAAB, one of only nine Nigerian universities selected, has been paired with Lanzhou University (LZU), a distinguished Chinese institution established in 1909. The partnership aims to jointly promote agricultural development and allied courses.

Lanzhou University, known as one of China’s premier universities, holds a reputation for excellence, particularly as the top university in Northwestern China.

Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, FUNAAB’s management has already engaged in discussions with LZU to explore avenues of collaboration. These discussions focus on agricultural development, allied courses, joint research initiatives, and exchange programmes.

The partnership is expected to facilitate significant academic and developmental strides between the two universities, marking a distinct milestone in FUNAAB’s quest to expand its global footprint.
