FUO Public Health Department Delivers Free Medical Services to 210 Isale-Osun Residents
Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO), through its Department of Public Health, has provided free medical services to 210 residents of the Isale-Osun community in Osogbo as part of a medical outreach programme aimed at strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery and promoting public health awareness.

The outreach, held within the Isale-Osun community, featured basic medical consultations, health screenings, and preventive health education. It was designed to promote early detection of common health conditions, improve health-seeking behaviour, and bridge gaps in access to basic healthcare services among underserved populations.
Speaking on the initiative, the Head of the Department of Public Health, Mrs. Abidemi Kafayat Adegbore, described the programme as a clear reflection of Fountain University’s commitment to community service and public health advancement. She noted that the outreach aligns with the University’s philosophy of integrating academic excellence with social responsibility.
According to Mrs. Adegbore, the exercise went beyond providing immediate medical assistance, as it also focused on educating community members on healthy lifestyle practices and disease prevention. She explained that such engagements offer practical platforms for applying public health knowledge to real-life situations while fostering stronger town-and-gown relationships.
She further emphasized that the initiative is in line with the Department’s mandate to contribute meaningfully to public health development at the grassroots through advocacy, education, and preventive healthcare interventions.
