 The Department of Applied Geophysics at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has received a significant boost from its dedicated alumni. Responding to a heartfelt appeal from the department, two alumni groups, FUTA/AGP/92 and FUTA/AGP/93, have generously donated essential equipment to support teaching, learning, and research activities.

In a remarkable show of solidarity, the FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni donated a state-of-the-art 65” Hisence Smarty TV, a high-definition Webcam Camera, an All-in-One HP Computer with 4GB RAM and 250GB SSD, and an HP Laptop boasting 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD. This generous contribution, valued at N1,500,000, is poised to significantly enhance the department's capabilities.

Not to be outdone, the FUTA/AGP/93 Alumni stepped up with a transformative donation of two fully installed 2.5KVA solar-powered inverters. This invaluable contribution, valued at over N2,195,000, will power the departmental office, library, and potentially a laboratory extension, ensuring uninterrupted learning and research activities.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the department, Professor James Akintorinwa, Head of the Department of Applied Geophysics and FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni member, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation. He emphasized the profound impact these donations will have on teaching, learning, and research, praying for abundant blessings upon the generous alumni groups.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the alumni's spirit of give-back. She commended both FUTA/AGP/92 and FUTA/AGP/93 Alumni for their generosity, describing their contributions as timely and invaluable. Professor Oladiji emphasized the importance of such engagements in advancing the university's frontiers of knowledge and encouraged other alumni to follow suit.
