John Akinloye, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has emerged as the winner of the Unity Bank-sponsored Entrepreneurship Competition at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Cross River State.

Akinloye’s business idea was selected as the best out of 120 submissions made by corps members deployed to the state. His innovative pitch earned him a business grant of N800,000 during the grand finale held on September 13, 2024.

Reflecting on his achievement, Akinloye expressed gratitude to God and those who supported him throughout the competition. He recounted his journey, from arriving at the Cross River NYSC camp with mixed feelings to seizing the opportunity presented by Unity Bank to pitch his business idea. Among the top 10 finalists, Akinloye’s idea stood out, ultimately securing him the top spot.

He expressed appreciation to Unity Bank for their continued support of youth entrepreneurship and pledged to invest the grant into his farming venture. Akinloye also extended his gratitude to the FUTA community, particularly the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, for their unwavering support. He credited his success to the collective efforts of his mentors, peers, and family members who contributed to his journey.
