FUTA Alumnus Raymond Aderoju Begins Master's at University of Georgia, USA on Full Scholarship

Raymond Aderoju, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), and the best graduating student in the Department of Applied Geology, Class of 2021, has embarked on a new academic journey in the United States.

Raymond Aderoju, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), and the best graduating student in the Department of Applied Geology, Class of 2021, has embarked on a new academic journey in the United States. Aderoju recently began his master's degree program at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA, following his receipt of a prestigious full-ride scholarship.

Reflecting on his time at FUTA, Aderoju highlighted the significant impact his undergraduate education had on his academic and personal growth. He expressed gratitude for the multiple awards and recognitions he earned, including the University Prize for Best Graduating Student in Applied Geology, the Dr. Olusegun Agagu Prize for Best Graduating Student in Geology, and several others, including awards for excellence in Petroleum Geology.

"I am proud of the achievements I garnered during my time at FUTA," Aderoju said. "The education I received and the support from my mentors and lecturers laid the foundation for my current success and shaped me into who I am today."

Aderoju acknowledged several individuals who played key roles in his academic journey, including Dr. Olufemi N. Fajolu, whose support and mentorship have been a constant source of motivation. He also extended his appreciation to his FUTA lecturers, including Dr. Adeshina Adisa, Dr. Sunday Daramola, and Emmanuel Igonor, for their invaluable guidance throughout his academic career.

In addition to his mentors, Aderoju thanked friends and fellow students who supported him during the rigorous scholarship application process, including Abdulwaris Ajagunjeun, Opeyemi Victoria Aransiola, and many others who contributed to his journey.

Hailing from Iseyin, Oyo State, Aderoju’s rise from humble beginnings to securing a full scholarship at a prestigious U.S. university is an inspiring story of perseverance and excellence.
