FUTA Deputy Vice-Chancellor Canvasses Alumni Support for Alma Mater at IMACOSA Forum
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Sunday Oluyamo, has urged alumni and old students of educational institutions to cultivate a strong culture of giving back to their alma mater as a means of sustaining institutional growth and excellence.

Professor Oluyamo gave the charge while chairing the annual get-together of the Imade College, Owo Old Students’ Association (IMACOSA), Akure Chapter. He commended members of the association for their consistent commitment to the development of Imade College, noting that their collective efforts played a significant role in the school emerging as the Best Public Secondary School in Nigeria in the last academic year. He encouraged the association to sustain and deepen its support for the college.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Adewumi Abitoye, former Minister of State for Education and an alumnus of Imade College, praised members for their dedication to infrastructural development, particularly individuals who personally funded the renovation and facelift of several school buildings.
Also speaking, Mr. Akinola Allen Yinka, former Principal of Imade College and past President of IMACOSA, advised members to exercise prudence in light of prevailing economic challenges. He shared practical insights on navigating current economic realities while remaining committed to collective goals.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chairman of IMACOSA, Akure Chapter, Alhaji Alli Ahmed, described the gathering as more than a social event, noting that it was a celebration of shared heritage, enduring bonds, and the values instilled by their alma mater. He appreciated the elders and pioneers of the association for laying a solid foundation and commended past leaders for their selfless service.
Alhaji Ahmed, a former Head of the Park and Gardens Unit of FUTA, also praised members of the planning committee and the executive council for their dedication to the success of the event. He urged members to remain united, support one another, and continue contributing to the development of Imade College while upholding values of discipline, excellence, integrity, and service.
He further commended the Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for the recent recruitment of teachers into public schools across the state, a development from which Imade College, Owo, benefitted significantly.

The event attracted distinguished elders of the association, past presidents and chairmen, executive council members, invited guests, spouses, and old students of Imade College, Owo, and was marked by a strong atmosphere of unity and fellowship.
