FUTA DON Dr. Ayodeji Oke Wins Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme of European Union, Dr. Ayodeji Oke of the Department of Quantity Surveying , Federal University of Technology, Akure , FUTA has been selected to participate in a staff exchange mobility programme under the aegis of the European Union Strengthening and Promoting Regional Engineering Education in Africa (SPREE) scholarship at the School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Zambia.
SPREE is one of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme supported projects with five partner universities in Eastern, Central, Southern, Northers and Western Africa including Federal University of Technology, Akure. It is funded by the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme of the European Union and supported by the African Union.
Dr. Oke said the programme is designed for members of staff of the five institutions to undertake guest lecturing, curriculum development as well as knowledge and resource sharing. He added that interacting with members of staff from other institution during the period will aid his international collaboration and further enhance his teaching and research activities. He said the experience will not only benefit his department, but will further improve the image of the university as the first member of staff from FUTA to be hosted by the University of Zambia under the programme.
The programme with a two-month duration is designed for members of staff of the five institutions to undertake guest lecturing, curriculum development as well as knowledge and resource sharing.
The content of the agreement sent to Dr. Oke says “The host institution shall provide support to the scholarship holder for undertaking a mobility activity for staff exchange under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, in the framework of the project Strengthening Mobility and Promoting Regional Integration of Engineering Education in Africa (Project No 614586-mobaf-20191-1).”
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji ,while congratulating Dr Oke for the accomplishment urged him to be a good ambassador of FUTA during his stay in Zambia. She said the management will always support such initiative from staff and students in order to boost its collaborative effort that will boost knowledge sharing and enhancement.
