FUTA Students Elect New Leaders for 2024 Student Union Year
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) held elections on May 7, 2024, to elect new leaders for the Students' Union. Abejoye Adegoriola Taiwo, a Civil Engineering student, was elected President, and Adewumi Queen Oluwatoyin, a Biomedical Technology student, was elected Vice President.
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has successfully conducted elections for new leaders to helm the Students' Union for the upcoming year. The elections, held on May 7, 2024, were organized by the Student Electoral Commission in collaboration with the university’s Students’ Affairs Division.
In a competitive election, Abejoye Adegoriola Taiwo, a 300-level Civil Engineering student, emerged as the new President of the Students’ Union. Adewumi Queen Oluwatoyin, a 300-level Biomedical Technology student, was elected Vice President.
The newly elected executive members include:

- Dufale Enoch Oghenekparobor, Marine Science & Technology, Welfare Officer
- Ayileka Oluwatimilehin Israel, Project Management Technology, Treasurer
- Abayomi Olamilekan David, Agricultural Engineering, Financial Secretary
- Arifayan Ayomide Elijah, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Public Relations Officer
- Oladejo Emmanuel Ayomide, Director of Socials
- Iyare Praise Osazee, Marine Science & Technology, Director of Sports
Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji congratulated the newly elected leaders, urging them to use their positions to serve their fellow students effectively and create lasting connections. She emphasized the importance of balancing their leadership roles with academic responsibilities, encouraging them to remain focused on their studies and to be exemplary ambassadors for FUTA.
Dean of the Students Affairs Division, Professor David Oke, announced that the newly elected leaders would take their oath of office in due course.
