Sharing her academic achievement on LinkedIn, Nkechi revealed that she successfully defended her dissertation, marking the end of her PhD journey. She wrote, “I successfully defended my dissertation titled, Distance in Topological Data Analysis, yesterday. This 5-year journey has been incredibly rewarding, filled with challenges, growth, and many hours of study. I remember landing in the US in the Fall of 2019, mostly clueless about how things work in the American society. Even the weather felt too chilly for me from day one when I got here, though it was mid-August. I have since learned to adapt."
"Carrying a pregnancy and birthing a baby right in the middle of my program was a great blessing, but it did not make things easier. In all of that, by the grace of God, I have now completed all requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from Wayne State University. Nothing missing, nothing broken.”

"My advisor, Professor Daniel Isaksen, was very instrumental in bringing my dissertation to life, and I appreciate his mentorship. I enjoyed a lot of support from my professors, staff, and fellow graduate students in the Department of Mathematics at Wayne State University. I also learned a lot about communicating Mathematics by interacting with my students in the classroom as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.”
Looking ahead, Nkechi is expressed her intent to apply her expertise and contributing to the field of Topological Data Analysis (TDA) to tackle real-world problems.
