Gateway ICT Polytechnic Appoints New Registrar, Librarian
The Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, has appointed Dr. Julius Popoola as its first substantive registrar and Dr. Christy Adeeko as its first substantive librarian.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Folorunso Adedayo, disclosed in a statement on Monday that the appointments were approved by the polytechnic’s Governing Council. According to Adedayo, the duo will serve a single, non-renewable term of five years.
She highlighted that Dr. Popoola joined the polytechnic in 2007 as an administrative officer and rose through the ranks to become Acting Registrar in 2019. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Psychology (Personnel Psychology), a Master’s degree in Personnel Psychology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Olabisi Onabanjo University. Popoola is also a certified member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Member), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (Fellow), the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria (Fellow), and the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (Fellow).
Dr. Adeeko, on her part, joined the polytechnic in 2012 and served as Acting Librarian from 2023 until her appointment. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Library, Archival, and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan. She is a registered librarian under the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria, a member of the Nigerian Library Association, Ogun State Chapter, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria and the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria.
Adedayo stated that the appointments reflect the polytechnic’s commitment to promoting quality education and human capital development in Nigeria, while strengthening polytechnic education as a key driver of innovation, skills development, and national growth.
