Makenzie Thompson, an 18-year-old high school senior from South Fulton, Georgia, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by gaining acceptance into 49 colleges and being offered a total of $1.3 million in scholarships. Known for her academic excellence and active involvement in various school activities, Thompson has chosen to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian at Tuskegee University in Alabama, renowned for its exceptional animal science program.
Thompson's remarkable success is attributed to her dedication to academics, time management skills, and the unwavering support of her parents. The class president, co-captain of the dance team, vice president of Beta Club, and a member of the national honor society, she stands out as an exemplary student with a passion for animals.

Receiving acceptance letters from prestigious institutions such as Howard University, Spelman College, Hampton University, and Morehouse College, Thompson's accomplishment surpasses national averages. While the average number of college applications per student in the US was 4.1 in 2016, Thompson applied to over 12 times that figure. Additionally, her acceptance rate far exceeds the national average of 66.7% for four-year colleges in 2018.

Choosing a highly competitive field, Thompson opted for veterinary medicine, with an acceptance rate of 40.3% in 2020. She joins a minority group in her chosen profession, with only 2% of veterinarians being Black or African American, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Beyond her college acceptances and scholarships, Thompson has garnered numerous honors and awards, including the Georgia Certificate of Merit, the President's Award for Educational Excellence, and recognition as a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar and Gates Scholarship Finalist.
