Gombe State University Hosts 2nd Prof. Abdullahi Mahadi Memorial Lecture
Gombe State University held the 2nd Prof. Abdullahi Mahadi Memorial Lecture, focusing on leadership values for Nigeria’s transformation, with participation from renowned scholars and dignitaries.
On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Gombe State University (GSU), under the leadership of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, hosted the 2nd Professor Abdullahi Mahadi Annual Memorial Lecture.
The lecture, titled "Leadership Values for Nigeria's Transformation," was delivered by Professor Toyin Falola, a distinguished scholar from the University of Texas, USA. The event highlighted the importance of leadership in driving meaningful change in Nigeria.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, alongside members of the State Executive Council.
The lecture was chaired by Prof. Umaru A. Pate, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere, who lauded the late Prof. Mahadi’s contributions to education and nation-building.
The event attracted a diverse audience, including members of the late Prof. Mahadi's family, academics, security personnel, traditional and religious leaders, students, and well-wishers.
Late Prof. Abdullahi Mahadi was celebrated for his roles as the former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, and the founder of the Mahadi Foundation. His legacy continues to inspire leadership and educational advancement in Nigeria.
The memorial lecture reaffirmed GSU's commitment to honoring its history while addressing critical national issues through intellectual dialogue.
