Gov Abdulrazaq Completes KWASU Campuses in Osi, Ilesha Baruba
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has completed the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses of Kwara State University, with academic sessions set to commence in January 2025.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has fulfilled his promise to complete the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses of the Kwara State University (KWASU), marking a significant milestone in tertiary education development in the state.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, announced during an inspection visit on Saturday that construction at the Osi campus in Ekiti Local Government is 98% complete, paving the way for academic activities in the 2024/2025 session.
Students in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts under the Faculty of Environmental Sciences are set to begin lectures on November 18 at Osi, while the Faculty of Agriculture will start operations at the Ilesha Baruba Campus in January 2025.
Dr. Arinde praised the quality of infrastructure, including lecture theaters, offices, and state-of-the-art facilities such as a 1,500-seat auditorium, solar streetlights, and recreational centers. "The Governor's unwavering commitment has transformed these projects into reality, restoring hope to the communities," she remarked.
Head of the Osi Campus, Prof. Binta Sulyman, expressed gratitude to Governor Abdulrazaq for his dedication. She highlighted the economic benefits the projects will bring to Osi and its surroundings. "With staff and students already on the ground, lectures will commence next week for Fine and Applied Arts. Additional programs like Architecture and Quantity Survey will start in January," she added.
The development has been met with excitement in the host communities, which previously doubted the projects' completion. Governor Abdulrazaq's delivery of these campuses underscores his commitment to advancing education and infrastructure in Kwara State.
