Gov. Kefas Commends NYSC for Its Role in National Development

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, has praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its substantial contributions to national growth and development. Speaking through his representative, Dr. Jeji Williams, the Chief of Staff, Gov. Kefas highlighted the NYSC's role in promoting national unity, integration, and discipline while contributing to the country’s development.

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, has praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its substantial contributions to national growth and development. Speaking through his representative, Dr. Jeji Williams, the Chief of Staff, Gov. Kefas highlighted the NYSC's role in promoting national unity, integration, and discipline while contributing to the country’s development.

The commendation came during the opening ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch B Stream II Corps Members deployed to Taraba State. Dr. Williams, addressing the gathering, lauded the Corps Members for their patriotism, zeal, and responsibility demonstrated throughout their academic careers and their prompt response to the call for national service.

Governor Kefas also emphasized the impact of the state government's "Moving Forward" policy initiative, which has significantly contributed to wealth creation, job opportunities, and overall improvement in the lives of the people of Taraba State. He encouraged the Corps Members to actively contribute to critical sectors such as Agriculture, Works, Technology, Environmental Sanitation, Clean Energy, and Tourism, which are vital to the state’s economy.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Indo Markson, representative of the Chairman of the State Governing Board, urged the Corps Members to adhere strictly to the NYSC rules and regulations. She also provided insights into the diverse tribal landscape of the state, highlighting the cultural richness they would experience during their service.

NYSC Taraba State Coordinator, Mr. Ella Aji Williams, expressed gratitude to the attendees and urged the Corps Members to engage actively in the camp activities and make the most of their service year.

The ceremony concluded with Hon. Justice J.D. Yakubu, representing the Chief Judge of Taraba State, administering the NYSC Pledge and Oath of Allegiance to the new Corps Members, marking the beginning of their service journey.

This opening ceremony set a positive tone for the service year, reinforcing the NYSC’s mission and encouraging the Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to their host communities.
