Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, has urged the 2024 Batch B2 Corps Members to fully engage in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programme. The Governor's advice was delivered by Mr. John Akume, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, during the official opening ceremony of the Orientation Course at the NYSC Camp, Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.

Governor Alia emphasized the significance of the skills acquisition programme, describing it as a gateway to future success. He encouraged the Corps Members to take the programme seriously, noting that it offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.

In his address, Mr. Akume also reminded the Corps Members of their important role in shaping the future of the country. He urged them to serve with unwavering loyalty and dedication, and reiterated the state administration's commitment to ensuring their security, safety, and welfare throughout their service year.

Governor Alia expressed appreciation for the efforts of the State Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, and the Camp Officials in imparting essential leadership skills to the Corps Members. He acknowledged the positive impact of his administration's support, including the regular payment of monthly state allowances and the recent approval of one million naira for outstanding Corps Members from the 2023 Batch B.

Mrs. Veronica Garba, in her welcome speech, thanked Governor Alia for his steadfast support of the NYSC scheme. She highlighted the Governor's intervention in addressing erosion issues at the Orientation Camp by funding the construction of drainage and road networks, with work already in advanced stages.

She also encouraged the Corps Members to make the most of the opportunities provided by both the Federal Government and the Benue State Government, actively participating in all aspects of the NYSC Orientation Course and other key programmes.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the Oath of Allegiance to the Corps Members by the Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice M.A. Ikpambese, represented by Justice Josephine Ayu.
