Governor Oborevwori Hails Exceptional Progress at UNIDEL

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has applauded the remarkable progress at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, describing the institution’s development over the past three years as exceptional.

The Governor expressed his admiration during a courtesy visit to the university's management team, following an awareness and sensitization campaign on the dangers of cultism and related vices.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Thanksgod Harry Trakiriowei, Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the significant strides made by the university in its infrastructural and academic development. He urged the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, and her team to continue their hard work in fostering growth and innovation.

"I am highly impressed with the transformation witnessed here," the Governor’s representative said. "This level of progress is commendable, and I encourage the management to sustain these efforts for the betterment of the institution."

In her response, Vice Chancellor Prof. Chiemeke expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for his ongoing support, which she said has been pivotal to the university's rapid development. She also commended the state government for launching the anti-cultism awareness campaign, which seeks to promote a safer learning environment for students.

"We owe our achievements to the unwavering backing of the state government. The launch of this awareness campaign highlights the administration’s dedication to the well-being of our students," said Prof. Chiemeke. She further praised Dr. Okoh Ezekiel, the convener of the sensitization program, for his efforts in addressing critical social challenges in the institution.

The courtesy visit was attended by seven Special Assistants to the Governor and other top government officials, who reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting UNIDEL in its mission to deliver quality education while tackling societal issues.
