Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has pledged to immortalize two students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara, James Anajuwe and Caleb Musa, who tragically lost their lives during a recent abduction incident.

Governor Ododo expressed his commitment to honoring their memory as part of efforts to commemorate their lives and contributions to the university community.

The announcement came during the Governor's visit to inspect ongoing projects at CUSTECH, where he reiterated his administration's resolve to enhance security measures and ensure a safe learning environment for all students in the state. He stated this when he met 29 students of the university who were rescued from their abductors who had attacked the university campus and took away 31 students on the 9th of May, 2024.

The Governor emphasized the importance of honoring the memory of the slain students and reaffirmed his administration's dedication to ensuring the safety of all students and staff at CUSTECH. promised to complete the perimeter fencing of the university within 16 weeks and ensure full security surveillance of the campus with the capacity for round-the -clock emergency response by security agencies.

Governor Ododo said he will work with the management of the university to consistently review the security architecture of the school and make improvements where necessary in line with the safe school initiative of the state government.

In response to the Governor's announcement, Professor Abdulrahaman Salawu, Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, expressed gratitude for the support and pledged the university's full cooperation in implementing the security upgrades. He highlighted the significant impact of Governor Ododo's initiatives on the university community and commended the commitment to safeguarding educational institutions across Kogi State.
